Salary: $75,321 (Step 01) to $97,918 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.

The incumbent of this position is entitled to a cost of living allowance (COLA) of 10.99% in addition to the salary. COLA may be subject to change at any time.

Responsibilities

As an Hydrologist within the Pacific Islands Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
o    Plan, conduct, and report on complete hydrologic interpretive studies
o    Lead multi-disciplinary hydrologic studies that focus on the assessment of groundwater recharge, flow, and transport
o    Select, develop, calibrate, and verify groundwater flow and transport models
o    Evaluate the impacts of land-use, climate, and water-management changes on hydrologic systems
o    Present the major findings of complex groundwater recharge and groundwater flow modeling studies through presentations, scientific reports, and journal articles
o    Negotiate results-oriented cooperative agreements with Water Science Center management and cooperators
o    Occasional physical activities required in field assignments, include walking, bending, stooping, and carrying stream gaging and chemical and biological sampling equipment. Field work may occasionally require lifting fairly heavy objects and wading in streams in all types of weather.
o    Field work may expose hydrologist to potentially dangerous situations and exposure to moderate discomfort from such extremes as heat, cold, and inclement weather, particularly on flood trips during severe storms.
o    Operates a government motor vehicle as an incidental driver.

Occasional travel - Occasional travel away from home may be required up to 5 nights per month.
