The aim of the grant program is to help mitigate one of the factors—lack of
funds—which may prevent these conferees from attending the OSM 2019. The
grant program will support approximately 15 researchers who work in the
field of land system science in the global South. If you wish to apply,
please read the guidelines below.

*The grants are open to scholars who meet the following eligibility
criteria:*

   - Work and reside in a low or middle-income country (lower and upper),
   according to the World Development Indicators Database World Bank, and are
   affiliated with a developing country institution which cannot supply
   funding for travel grants;
   - Have an accepted contribution at OSM 2019;
   - Attend the full program of the conference (April 24-26, 2019).

*Grant details: *

   - Round-trip airfare (Economy, E-ticket and receipt are required to
   reimburse the actual expenses);
   - Accomodations for the duration of the OSM 2019 (no per diem will be
   provided, however, hotels in Bern cover breakfast, while lunch each day,
   apéro reception, and conference dinner are included with registration);
   - Waived conference registration fee.

*Application Requirements: *

   - Application form;
   - Support letter from your Institution/ Department Chair / PhD Advisor
    (please include statement regarding institutional capacity to cost share
   or need for funding);
   - 1-2 page CV.

*Assessment:*

   - The grants will be awarded to developing country scholars who the OSM
   Scientific Committee deems to have outstanding potential to contribute to
   the advancement of land system science and the Global Land Programme.
   Selection will be made based on the following criteria:
   - Does the applicant meet the eligibility criteria?
   - Does the applicant plan to present research that is of outstanding
   quality and should be seen by the wider GLP community?
   - What is the potential of the candidate to contribute to further
   advancement of land system science and the Global Land Programme?

*Timeline: *

   - Travel grants will be selected by the Scientific Committee of the OSM
   2019. Key dates for the selection process are:
   - Deadline for application: February 1, 2019
   - Applicants will be informed in mid-February 2019.

*Apply: *
To submit a travel grant, please email your completed application form and
supporting files (CV and support letter) to osm2019 at glp.earth
<osm20189 at glp.earth>, with the subject line “*ATTN: Application for Travel
