Dr. Katherine Nelson, Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography < https://www.k-state.edu/geography/> at Kansas State University, is seeking applications for a Masters or PhD student with an interest in community resilience and sustainability. Guaranteed research assistantship funding is available for one year. Further funding is contingent on external funding/fellowships and availability of teaching assistantships. Possible projects include scenario analysis of urban flood adaptation and mitigation, spatiotemporal modeling of socioenvironmental flood dynamics, and dasymetric downscaling of demographic data for social vulnerability assessments.   Prospective students should have a background in geography, engineering, environmental science, or a related field and should have experience with statistics, GIS, and programming (eg. Python, R).
