Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in ice core geochemistry and past greenhouse gas variability. The successful candidate will conduct research on the Royal Society funded project “Augmenting ice core records with continuous histories of CO2, CH4 and N2O” (RGF\EA\181047) at Northumbria University, UK. The Postdoctoral Researcher will develop methods to measure the concentration and isotopic composition of atmospheric gases trapped in polar ice cores. The Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences currently hosts excellent research laboratories with analytical equipment and palaeoenvironmental facilities that are maintained and operated by three full-time technical staff. A state-of-the-art ice core facility with additional stable isotope mass spectrometry capability is currently being constructed within the Department. The candidate will join a vibrant group of researchers based at Northumbria with expertise in polar science and extreme environments.
