Senior Analyst, Climate and Sustainability

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

Provide clean, secure, and affordable energy to the world" - Cheniere's
vision statement

 

This position will be part of the Policy, Government, and Public Affairs
(PGPA) organization and provide support on sustainability, climate policy
and advocacy matters impacting Cheniere Energy, Inc. (Cheniere).  This
position will be located in Houston, Texas and will report to the Director,
Climate & Sustainability. 

 

The position will conduct and/or lead legislative, regulatory and technical
analysis of climate policies and programs in the US and other key countries.
In addition, this position will lead the policy and regulatory analysis to
support new low-carbon venture projects.  Further, this position may conduct
specific analytical modeling in relation to the role of natural gas and LNG
under carbon-constraints.

 

This is a non-DOT position.

 

KNOWLEDGE

A successful candidate should have the following qualities:

.        Strong understanding and experience in US and international climate
change policies, including policies associated with carbon capture use and
sequestration (CCUS), emission offsets, carbon policies such as carbon tax,
cap and trade, renewable energy standards. 

.        Strong understanding and experience with energy modeling outlooks

.        Demonstrated ability to engage with policy leaders. 

.        Working knowledge of natural gas value chain operations and energy
markets. 

.        Ability to represent Cheniere in public engagements.  Confident
public speaker.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

.        Lead corporate research and analysis of US and international
climate and energy transition policies, including the macro-energy impacts
due to climate and renewable energy legislation, regulations and policies.

.        Develop analytical models and other tools to assess energy and
environmental impacts from climate and energy transition policies and
programs.

.        Develop Cheniere's independent assessments on risks and
opportunities from climate and energy transition programs and policies as it
relates to US and Cheniere's markets, including new low-carbon ventures.

.        Develop analytical briefs and periodic reports for senior
management.

.        Support lifecycle analysis on the greenhouse gas impact from
exporting LNG.

.        Collaborate directly with internal stakeholders to promote the
development and execution of Cheniere's climate policy strategies.

.        Credibly engage and represent Cheniere on climate and energy
transition policies with regulators, academics, non-governmental
organizations, industry forums and networks.

.        Develop public comments and advocacy strategies.

.        Adherence to all corporate policies, especially safety and human
resources at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)

Education and Certifications:

.        Bachelor's degree in economics, engineering,
sustainability/environmental or public policy.

.        A graduate degree is preferred 

 

Experience: 

.        10+ years of experience in climate and energy transition policies. 

.        Demonstrated understanding of carbon policies and renewable energy
market trends in the US and international countries, including CCUS, carbon
tax, cap and trade etc.

.        Advanced knowledge of US and international energy and environmental
projection tools and models from Energy Information Administration (EIA),
International Energy Agency (IEA) and familiarity with outputs from leading
consultants and think-tanks.

.        Prior experience analyzing macro-impacts of climate constraints,
renewable energy policies and energy transition policies on natural gas and
LNG fundamentals.

.        Working knowledge of lifecycle assessment models and research from
National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), Argonne National Laboratory
(ANL) and other research organizations.

.        Communicating complicated analytical results and recommendations to
senior management and external audiences.  

Skills:

.        Advanced Excel and Access database skills and proficiency in
statistical analysis

.        Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

.        A passion that embodies our vision statement.

.        Excellent multi-tasking skills to prioritize tasks and work
independently within the broad corporate strategic guidance.

.        No direct reports

Ability to multi-task and function in a highly dynamic atmosphere; must
exercise discretion independently.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

.        Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to
time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.


.        Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work
hours or on weekends.

.        May be required to work over 40 hours per week.

.        Limited travel is required.

.        Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal
regulations or as required by Cheniere.
