The Lee and Nah Research groups in the School of Energy and Environment at City University of Hong Kong are currently looking for motivated, talented and creative Ph.D. students to work on projects related to the heterogenous chemistry of indoor and urban grime. Successful applicants will use laboratory studies to research how heterogenous reactions alter the microbiological and chemical compositions of grime accumulated on a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces. These Ph.D. graduate studentships are fully funded for the duration of the program (4 years). Any continuation of financial support is contingent upon the student’s satisfactory research and academic progress.
Applicants should have (or are expected to have by the time of commencement) a Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree, with research experience in biological sciences, bioengineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related science or engineering field. Experience with microbiology techniques (e.g., culturing), analytical techniques (e.g., mass spectrometry, ion chromatography), and data analysis is highly desired. Some aptitude with scientific programming (e.g., Igor pro, Matlab) is preferred. Effective written and oral communication skills in English are necessary.
To apply, please send the following items to Dr. Patrick Lee (patrick.kh.lee at cityu.edu.hk<mailto:patrick.kh.lee at cityu.edu.hk>) and/or Dr. Theodora Nah (theodora.nah at cityu.edu.hk<mailto:theodora.nah at cityu.edu.hk>):
