The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Department of Mechanical Engineering of NUS invite applications for faculty positions in Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences.

The Departments have established a Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences Programme to strengthen education and research in disciplines of importance to the upstream oil and gas industry. This initiative will complement our active education and research programme in Offshore Engineering and Subsea Engineering in NUS. Singapore is an international centre of the offshore oil and gas industry. The Centre for Offshore Research and Engineering (CORE), hosted by the Faculty of Engineering, is the key node for the Maritime Institute @ National University of Singapore, and is a focal point for the Offshore Technology research that is strongly supported by the national agencies and leading companies.

The successful candidate must be able to teach effectively at the graduate level and develop an active externally sponsored research programme.
The Departments jointly host a Master of Science degree in Offshore Technology, with options to specialize in Subsea Engineering or in Petroleum Engineering. Teaching scope includes Exploration and Production Geology; Petrophysics and Reservoir Characterization; Seismic Acquisition and Processing; Reservoir Engineering; Production Engineering; Petroleum Geomechanics; and Geophysical Inverse Problem. NUS will also be partnering IFP School (Paris) to offer a joint M.Sc. in Petroleum Projects and Offshore Technology in August 2019.
The Departments currently champion several major research programmes in, petroleum engineering and geosciences, offshore engineering and subsea technology, and is actively engaged in collaborations with well-known companies and world-renowned institutions.

The appointment is normally on a 3-year contract. The remuneration package is internationally competitive. The University has a flexible wage system. Faculty members who are not Singapore citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents may receive subsidized housing.
