POSITION TITLE: Dolan Fellow for Innovative Water Research

JOB OVERVIEW: The Center for Academy Science's Patrick Center for
Environmental Research seeks an innovative post-doctoral scientist to
further its mission in watershed ecology and human-induced impacts. We seek
a visionary scientist who can bridge the boundaries between ecological,
biogeochemical, physical science, and social change to increase and enhance
environmental quality. Topical areas of interest include coupled
human-nonhuman ecological systems, urban ecology, integrated ecological
systems, environmental-ecology outreach, and policy change. Demonstrated
capacity for interdisciplinary work involving ecological sciences and human
dimensions and communicating with different audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS: Recent PhD in ecology, environmental science or related
fields. A minimum of 1 year experience. Background in various aspects of
Watershed science and management (i.e., biological, chemical, ecological,
sociological, political).  Skills within sustainable drivers of
environmental change.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Interact with Academy and University scientists and
faculty.  Develop proposals, projects, and team building across units of
the Academy and Drexel University.
Actively participate in the planning and implementation of the Academy's
and CAS's Strategic Plan.  Actively participate as needed in research and
consulting with Patrick Center project teams.  Assist with scientific
papers, project reports, and proposals.  Be a spokesperson for watershed
work at the Academy.  Be a thought leader in the new programs at ANS and
CAS.

The Patrick Center for Environmental Research, is the environmental
research center in the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. The
Academy is a private nonprofit organization founded in 1812 that seeks to
expand knowledge of nature through discovery and to inspire stewardship of
the environment.

The Academy has an extensive historical collection of flora and fauna from
around the world. For more than 40 years, interdisciplinary research teams
within the Patrick Center have been developing improved solutions for
protecting and restoring watersheds. The Patrick Center has ~50 staff
members and an annual budget over $2.6 M. For more information about the
