The Southern Regional Climate Center is a federally funded facility that
provides value-added climate data and information to constituents in the
states of Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
It also provides service to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric
Research (NOAA) line offices that include the National Centers for
Environmental Information (NCEI), the National Weather Service (NWS), and
the Office of Atmospheric Research (OAR). Support to additional federal and
state agencies are provided in support of our regional information delivery
focus. We operate under a contract with NOAA that requires specific
activities, personnel requirements, and periodic reporting. The activities
are outlined as 1) activities required of all six Regional Climate Centers
(RCCs) across the U.S., 2) regionally specific activities, and 3) regionally
specific national activities. The personnel that perform these activities
can be determined by each RCC Director.  The RCC Director is the only
required position that must be provided.

90% Administration: Provide leadership for the operational goals of the
SRCC. Ensure that all contractual obligations are satisfied and oversee
submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to NOAA. Communicate
with NOAA project managers. Attend required and requested meetings with NOAA
managers. Adapt to yearly updates of NOAA contract funding and requirements
changes. Reply to an RFP for continued SRCC funding prior to the end of our
current contract period. LSU Activities and Requirements - Ensure compliance
to all LSU policies and memorandums. Supervise and evaluate SRCC employees.
Oversee hiring of new personnel dictated by workload and available funding.
Oversee purchases for SRCC operations, research, and development needs.
Identify and support graduate students to work on SRCC projects. Work with
department and university faculty that interact with the SRCC.

10% Research: Participate in SRCC research and development activities that
improve SRCC ability to provide scientifically sound information to
constituents. Participate in bi-weekly teleconference calls with RCC
Directors. Actively seek additional funding for SRCC activities. Communicate
with Congressional supporters to ensure continued SRCC funding.
