Temple University is seeking multiple highly motivated Ph.D. students for a
research assistant positions in Environmental Engineering.  Applicants
should be enthusiastic and motivated and should have strong verbal and
written communication skills.  Preference will be given to applicants who
already have an M.S. in a relevant field, and laboratory or analytical
chemistry experience.  Potential projects are shown below:



·         PFASs leaching from sewage sludges and biosolids as affection by
physicochemical and biological factors (NSF funded; McKenzie and Suri in
collaboration with Drexel); the selected student may also interact with
wastewater treatment plant operators.  Spring 2019 preferred start date;
contact Dr. McKenzie (ermckenzie at temple.edu) with inquiries.

·         PFASs accumulation in biological systems (SERDP funded; McKenzie
and Suri in collaboration with Drexel); the selected student will
participate in laboratory and field efforts.  Fall 2019 preferred start
date; contact Dr. McKenzie (ermckenzie at temple.edu) with inquiries.

·         Advanced water and wastewater treatment methods (e.g., ion
exchange, adsorption, ultrasound, electrocatalysis, and other AOPs) for
emerging contaminants of concern, such as dealing with PFAS, AMR, etc, in
the NSF Water and Environmental Technology (WET;
http://www.nsfwetcenter.org/) Center.  WET Center director: Dr. Suri (
rsuri at temple.edu).

·         Contaminants in Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) including
nutrients, metals, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PennDOT/AECOM
funded; McKenzie and Ryan in collaboration with a larger Temple and
Villanova team); the research will likely include field, laboratory, and
modeling efforts. Fall 2019 preferred start date; contact Dr. McKenzie (
