About the Department:

The Department of Geosciences is an interdisciplinary program composed of 22
faculty in Geography and Geology offering bachelor and master degrees in
geography and geology, and Ph.D. in Geosciences
(http://geosciences.uark.edu). The Department also participates in two
interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs in Environmental Dynamics and Space and
Planetary Sciences. The department is also closely affiliated with the
Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies (CAST), Tree-Ring Laboratory,
Arkansas Water Resources Center, and the University of Arkansas Stable
Isotope Laboratory.

Summary of Job Duties

The Department of Geosciences at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville
invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in
Physical Geography/Human Environment with an anticipated start date of
August 2019. We seek an outstanding individual with expertise specializing
in one or some combination of climatology, paleoclimatology, big data
analytics, human migration and medical geography. The successful candidate
will be expected to develop an independent, externally-funded research
program and compliment ongoing collaborative and interdisciplinary research
in the Department of Geosciences and the University. Teaching duties can
include introductory Earth Science, Sustaining Earth, and/or upper division
undergraduate or graduate courses in the candidate's field of interest.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Please ensure that all relevant application

*	Doctoral degree in geography, climatology, meteorology, or a related
discipline conferred by the start of employment
*	Demonstrated ability to teach at the senior/graduate level and
additional graduate courses
*	Demonstrated ability to develop an independent, externally funded
research program

*	Demonstrated ability to complement and enhance the existing research
areas of the Department of Geosciences, including climate variability and
change, dendrochronology, geospatial analysis, or remote sensing
*	Demonstrated publishing record in top journals
*	Demonstrated funding capabilities
