NASA GSFC Postdoc Fellow in Atmospheric Radiation, Dynamics, and Cloud Remote

Research description:

A postdoc position is open at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center to study atmospheric dynamics, radiation and clouds. The candidate will take part of our ongoing research to explore creative ways of understanding atmospheric dynamics and cloud processes in the Earth’s climate system. Observing these fast processes has been a challenge for remote sensing from space, play important roles in Earth radiation balance and surface precipitation. We have been analyzing a number of advanced satellite sensors (e.g., MLS, AMSU-A, AIRS, GPM, CERES, GPS Radio Occultation) to uncover the information that is not seen in the past. Talent, self-motivated candidates are encouraged to apply and join our diversified research environment, particularly in the following research areas:

1. Stereo observations and analyses of cloud motion and heights with multi-angle, multi-platform sensors (e.g., MISR stereo, GEO-LEO and GEO-GEO stereo);
2. Sun-climate research with focus on solar irradiances and their impacts on Earth radiation budget and variability;
3. Remote sensing techniques (e.g., IceCube) and algorithms with mm and submm-wave radiometry and polarimetry.
