communities and infrastructure in Alaska. The successful applicant will use
knowledge of hydrometeorology, earth surface processes, airborne/satellite
remote sensing, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology, and
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to make meaningful contributions to the
Division's Climate and Cryosphere Hazards Program (CCHP). The successful
applicant will work under the direction of the CCHP manager in Fairbanks,
Alaska. This is a long-term nonpermanent position lasting at least 2 years,
with the possibility of extension pending availability of additional
funding.

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

. Work with the Climate and Cryosphere Hazards Program manager on
assessments of changes to the cryosphere, which may include assessing
seasonal and annual changes to glaciers, permafrost, and snow using a
variety of techniques;

. Coordinate citizen science recruitment and information
dissemination for crowdsourced snow data collection;

. Integrate in situ and snow remote sensing data to generate snow
distribution products;

. Work with program manager to plan and conduct airborne
photogrammetry and lidar missions;

. Lead airborne photogrammetry and lidar data processing, including
GNSS data processing, point cloud editing, assessing accuracy, maintaining
databases, creating maps and figures, and preparing reports and data
products for dissemination;

.        Plan fieldwork logistics and data collection strategies;

.        Provide advanced-level expertise in snow science;

. Use programming languages (e.g., Python and Matlab) and geospatial
software, including ArcGIS and RAMMS, to model geophysical processes; and

. Represent the CCHP and DGGS on interdisciplinary projects and
workgroups.

We are seeking a motivated advanced-level professional with a background in
geophysics, hydrology, remote sensing, physical geography, geomorphology, or
closely related fields. Experience in GIS, photogrammetric and lidar
surveying and data processing, GNSS technology and surveying, and terrain
modeling is preferred, but not required. Experience in snow variability and
stability, instrumentation, programming, and working in remote settings is
desirable, but also not required for this position. If you meet the required
Minimum Qualifications for Natural Resource Specialist III and have a

specific examples.
(Please note: We do not expect candidates to have experience in all these
categories; if you do not have experience in one of these categories, please
say so.)

on the cryosphere.

. Field experience related to geophysics, remote sensing, hydrology,
geomorphology, and natural hazards, with an emphasis on the cryosphere.

. Experience using GNSS technology, surveying, and instrumentation.

. Experience using geospatial software to manage, display, process,
analyze, and present geospatial data.

. Experience in airborne photogrammetric and lidar surveying and data
processing.
