*Post-Doctoral fellow at NOAA-CREST Center, The City College of New York *

The Postdoctoral Fellow position is a 12-month position (extended to 24
month) at the NOAA-CREST Center, The City College of New York, 160 Convent
Ave, New York, NY, 10031.  Candidate will be co-located for 6 months in

NOAA/ESRL facility at Boulder CO.



*Responsibilities:*

The selected candidate will develop and contribute new pre- and
post-processing data analysis tools for the National Water Model (WRF-Hydro
Modelling System). This includes evaluating existing methodologies and
developing novel techniques for analyzing terrain data and hydrological
model inputs and outputs. The candidate will develop scripts and algorithms
for automating the pre- and post-processing algorithms and for improving
the efficiency of WRF-Hydro model setup, calibration and analysis.
Candidate will be communicating research results through publication in
peer-reviewed journals, meeting proceedings, project websites and
presentations at scientific meetings, and develop technical documentation
and training material on the design and use of new data processing tools
for U.S. federal partners and the broader community. The post-doc will be
responsible for preparing quarterly and annual reports summarizing progress
on project objectives and writing journal articles describing project
results.



*Minimum Qualifications*

Candidates must be US Citizens and have received a PhD within the past two
years (24 months) from an accredited college or university.



*Preferred Education/Credential: *

Applied Math, Geoscience, Hydrology, Meteorology, Engineering (Civil,
Geological, or Environmental), or related field.

Candidates that demonstrate any or all of the following are preferred: (1)
strong skills in independent conceptual model development at multiple
scales, statistical data analysis, machine learning, and analysis and
visualization of complex simulation results; (2) fluency in R and Python;
(3) experience with managing scientific workflows, software modular design
and version control to optimize efficiency; (4) experience with the
numerical solution of nonlinear/linear PDEs governing physical processes;
(5) experience with Fortran90/C/C++, the Linux operating system, and
parallel programming paradigms; (6) experience using SWAT, WRF-Hydro, or
equivalent.
