Atmospheric and Environmental Research (AER) is seeking an outstanding
researcher with expertise in the atmospheric sciences and a demonstrated
record of excellence in independent scientific research and/or technology
development.

AER atmospheric scientists work in diverse areas including radiative
transfer modeling, climate science and climate change, air quality research,
retrieval of atmospheric constituents, cloud, and surface properties from
observations, data assimilation in Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP)
models, sensor simulation and calibration, and more. AER's projects are
interesting, challenging, varied, and rewarding, and we are seeking
candidates with the ability to lead a research team and to work
collaboratively as well as independently. AER's projects require specialized
experience in atmospheric and physical sciences, meteorology, mathematics,
and computational methods, and we will train the successful candidate on
objectives, methodology, and resources for specific projects.

Required qualifications include:

.        10 years atmospheric science experience

.        an advanced degree in meteorology, physics, applied mathematics, or
a similar field

.        experience leading research projects in atmospheric science

.        good knowledge of Unix/Linux, Fortran 90 and more recent versions,
shell scripts, Microsoft office and at least one data analysis and
visualization tool/language (e.g., IDL)

Knowledge of python, git, gitlab, and basic C/C++ is a plus.

 

The position is located at AER's headquarters located in Lexington,
Massachusetts.
