There is a vacancy for a permanent Senior Researcher position at Uni Research Climate in the topic of ocean modelling and ocean model development.

Central to this position is contributing to the continued improvement of the ocean component of the Norwegian Earth System Model (NorESM) and providing expertise on the oceans role in the climate system. The current ocean component of NorESM is based on MICOM but significantly enhanced by BCCR partners for almost two decades. In Bergen there is a strong expertise in large scale ocean modelling with a generalized vertical coordinate and this is the expected framework to be continued in the development cycle towards CMIP7 starting now. A tight collaboration with a wide range of earth system modellers at Uni Research Climate, BCCR and the national NorESM consortium is expected. In particular, this applies to activities related to ocean biogeochemistry, paleoclimate and sea level projections. It is also expected that this position will contribute to the continued national interaction and collaboration with CLIVAR Ocean Model Development Panel (OMDP) and Ocean Model Intercomparison Project (OMIP).
