Position Summary:


The College of Natural Science and Mathematics at UAF is seeking applicants
for potential adjunct faculty positions for our Geosciences department. We
are seeking applicants who possess a desire to help students succeed in
reaching their goals. Join us and help turn student aspirations into

Duties:


Duties will include formulating a syllabus, lecturing, writing and
administering exams and quizzes, grading of exams and quizzes, and holding
regular office hours.

The College of Natural Science and Mathematics(CNSM) is recruiting qualified
applicants for its pool of adjunct instructors in Geosciences.  Adjunct
instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester appointment. Qualified
applicants for this position will be placed into a hiring pool for the
academic year of 2017-2018 from which instructors will be hired. Acceptance
into the hiring pool does not constitute an offer of an appointment, nor
does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available
the following semester; hiring decisions are made on a semester-by-semester
basis (including summer sessions), according to the needs of that semester's
schedule.                                  

Applicants must be available to teach the courses face-to-face on the campus
of UAF. No relocation expenses will be paid for adjunct instruction.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their graduate-level academic
coursework and preparation, past teaching experiences, expertise and
experience relevant to the effective teaching of their specific field, and
potential for providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate students
in assigned courses at CNSM.

Required Experience

College level teaching experience preferred. Experience teaching Geosciences
labs preferred, especially at the introductory level.

Typical Education/Training

Master's degree in Geosciences. Ph.D. preferred. A closely related master's
degree in another discipline may be considered if the applicant has a
minimum of 18 graduate credits completed in Geosciences.

applicable).

Applications must be received prior to 11:55 PM Alaska time on 07/30/2018 to
be considered for the fall semester. Applications received after this time
and date may not be considered for the fall semester, but will be reviewed
for spring semester, 2019.Background Check:

The successful applicant is required to complete a background check.  Any
offer of employment is contingent on the background check.

UNAD-Adjunct:

This is an at-will, union represented adjunct position, and may be cancelled
based upon the needs of the university.
