The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks a Research Associate to conduct fluid dynamics research at the Virginia Coast Reserve (VCR) Long Term Ecological Research station, located in Oyster, VA. The research will focus on exchange flows between the marsh and coastal bays. The research associate will work directly with Professor Matthew Reidenbach in the Department of Environmental Sciences. 

A Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field of study is required at the time of application, as well as experience working with teams of hydrologists and ecologists. 

The candidate must have strong analytical and visualization skills, experience with fluid dynamics and sediment instrumentation, as well as computational modeling of coastal ocean flows. Further experience with marsh/estuary exchange flows is preferred. Good written and oral communication skills are also required. 

Appointment is for one year with possibility of a renewal for up to one additional year, contingent upon funding and satisfactory performance.
