The Department of Environmental Science in the College of Arts and Science at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2019.  Applicants should have a PhD or an anticipated PhD completion by August 2018 in geology, environmental science, earth science or related field.

Candidates must be strongly committed to excellence in scholarly research and should be effective teachers.  We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality scholarship in areas including quantitative ecosystem analysis with possible emphases on terrestrial and/or urban carbon dynamics. In addition to scholarship and teaching, responsibilities will include participation in department, school and university activities.
