Position Summary:
The Postdoctoral Fellow II position is a 42-month position available in climate science applications to conservation planning.

Responsibilities:
The post-doc will participate in an interdisciplinary research project designed to develop a data-driven decision support system to improve conservation planning of several sensitive amphibian species. The post-doc will collaborate with project leaders to characterize and forecast climate and fire regimes in southern California and refine and integrate regional climate, fire risk, and land use change models. The post-doc will be responsible for preparing quarterly and annual reports summarizing progress on project objectives and writing journal articles describing project results.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications:

A PhD in climate science, atmospheric sciences, hydrology, physical geography, ecological climatology, or related disciplines
Skill in climate, hydrologic, or ecological modeling
Skill in programming in R, Linux/Unix, Fortran, C, or Matlab
Skill in manipulating large datasets
Excellent written and oral communication skills
A record of publication commensurate with career stage
Preferred experience and background:

Regional climate modeling with WRF, RegCM, or RAMS
Modeling fire and land use/cover change
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams

ADA Comm Requirements - Comprehension: Comprehension and expression of a level to routinely draft narrative information such as case histories, compose routine correspondence on own initiative, make interview notes. May involved a large volume of such composition.
ADA Travel Requirements: Moderate travel required - ability to travel frequently (i.e., weekly-monthly) for activities such as home visits, collateral contacts, transport of clients to appointments, delivering mail, auditing records, inspecting facilities, or other activities requiring frequent travel under normal conditions.
