*Position for Postdoctoral Scientist in ACAS project at UPR-RP*



The Atmospheric Chemistry and Aerosols s Research (ACAR) group of the
University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras (UPR-RP) is looking for a
Postdoctoral Scientist with an interest in research on cloud and aerosol
interactions and in making measurements to support this research. The ACAR
group has recently been awarded a grant to build an Aerosol and Cloud
Analysis System (ACAS) and the postdoctoral scientist will be heavily
involved in developing, supporting and using this system during their
three-year stint.



The applicant should have a PhD in Atmospheric Science, Engineering,
Chemistry or Physics with a strong interest in observational research while
working with a team of technical and scientific co-workers, as well as a
willingness to mentor undergraduate and graduate students.  Applicants with
hands-on experience using at least one of the following instruments:
counterflow virtual impactor (CVI), differential mobility analyzer, aerosol
mass spectrometer, CCN counter, SP2, or other in-situ aerosol or cloud
instrumentation will be given preferential attention.


The applicant should additionally have strong analytical skills to work
with large and complex datasets, a good knowledge of Linux/Unix and at
least one programming language such as Labview, C++, Fortan, Matlab or
Python. Fluency in English, written and spoken, is required. If not a
Spanish speaker, learning the language while working at ACAR is
recommended. The duration of the position is 3 years. The starting salary
will be approximately $48,000 USD per year.  Interested applicants should
