Graduate research assistantships for Ph.D. students are available for starting time of Spring and Fall 2019 in the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering (CSEE) at University at Buffalo (UB), the State University of New York.

The students' research will focus on satellite remote sensing of atmospheric composition from the reflected sunlight in the ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared spectral regions and using satellite data to improve the understanding of atmospheric chemistry and climate change. The successful candidates will work in a highly interdisciplinary setting at the CSEE department and the RENEW Institute (https://www.buffalo.edu/renew.html) at UB. There will be opportunities to collaborate closely with scientists at Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and spend time for research in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Research experiences in atmospheric science, remote sensing, environmental engineering, meteorology, or a related discipline are strongly desired. Programming and quantitative analysis skills in Fortran, Matlab, Python, or R would also be an asset. Please apply by September 15, 2018 for Spring 2019 and by December 15, 2018 for Fall 2019 at http://engineering.buffalo.edu/civil-structural-environmental/graduate/admissions.html for full consideration.

Please contact Dr. Kang Sun (kangsun@?buffalo.edu<mailto:kangsun at buffalo.edu>) or see http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~kangsun/ for more information.?
