Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been measured in environmental samples from urban and rural areas in many parts of the world. However, there is a paucity of knowledge regarding the atmospheric gas-particle partitioning, reactions, and deposition of legacy and emergent PFAS.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will perform research-related activities within Drs. Barbara Turpin and Jason Surratt's UNC labs. This research will focus on multiphase air chemistry related to PFAS. Activities will include laboratory and field research to chemically characterize gas and particle phase PFAS in the North Carolina atmosphere, and the study of the transformation of PFAS compounds with particular focus on reactive uptake of hexafluoropropylene oxide (HFPO) onto atmospheric aerosol.

This is initially a one-year appointment, with an expected second year, contingent upon satisfactory progress. If interested, please apply directly to the position via http://unc.peopleadmin.com/postings/144722.
