*About the team*Catastrophe Perils team is responsible for Swiss Re's
global risk assessment framework and related client services in four
locations across the globe. We are accountable for developing and
disseminating Swiss Re's view of Nat Cat risk. To achieve this, we develop
and utilize state-of-the-art probabilistic models for assessing impacts of
natural catastrophes such as windstorms, earthquakes and floods. We operate
with a clear business mandate to grow Swiss Re's visionary edge in natural
perils (re)insurance in close cooperation with underwriters and clients.


*About the role*Are you striving to apply your science or engineering
background to increase our resilience against natural catastrophes? Are you
motivated to reduce the insurance protection gap by contributing to the
development of novel solutions and commercial products? Are you interested
in a role that will provide a stepping stone to long-term career
advancement opportunities within the re/insurance sector, e.g. in
underwriting, risk management or insurance solution design? As a graduate
embedded in Catastrophe Perils team, you will join our efforts to develop
state-of-the-art models/technology used for quantifying physical and
economic impacts of natural catastrophes. You will collaborate with
internal partners and external organizations from various disciplines and
craft solutions to reduce negative consequences of catastrophes. You will
build and commercialize the next generation of natural catastrophe related
products and services You will have opportunity to interact with colleagues
from a wide range of technical and non-technical backgrounds and transition
into a career in the financial industry.

*About you*

   - Master's degree or Ph.D. in natural/physical sciences, engineering or
   a related technical field
   - Strong analytical and quantitative background
   - Exceptional academic performance
   - Independent thinking and creative problem solving skills
   - Highly motivated with an ability to effectively manage own time and
   priorities in a collaborative environment
   - High-level of curiosity to scout for new ideas and eagerness to
   transform them into products or services with commercial value
   - Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to explain
   complex problems with clarity and effectiveness
   - Strong interest for career advancement in the financial industry
   - Solid background in probability or statistics
   - Strong computing and programming skills (e.g. Matlab); knowledge about
   structured databases and geographical information systems a plus
   - Excellent verbal and written English. Fluency in other languages a plus
