Job Summary:

The Department of Environmental Science at the University of San
Francisco invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant
Professor position to begin August 2018. This position seeks
candidates from the field of environmental science, earth science or
environmental engineering.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and
graduate courses in programs offered or supported by the Department,
with curriculum oversight and development as appropriate. The expected
teaching load for this position at USF is two 4-unit courses per
semester with an additional third course every fourth semester
(2-2-2-3 over two years). In addition, the successful candidate will
be expected to engage in service to the department and college, as
well as maintain an active research program that engages students when
possible.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a science or engineering discipline
with relevance to environmental science completed prior to August
2018. A strong record of teaching at the university level, evidence of
scholarship, and an understanding of and commitment to support the
mission of the University of San Francisco are required. A commitment
to undergraduate science education and research is essential.
Successful candidates must be able to teach Environmental Chemistry at
the undergraduate and graduate level. Of special interest are
candidates with expertise in aquatic, atmospheric, or soil science.
Experience with applying Geographic Information Systems to research or
teaching is desirable. Candidates with expertise in other areas of
environmental science are also encouraged to apply. The successful
candidate will be expected to develop a dynamic research program that
ideally would allow for undergraduate student participation.
