Job description
The Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University
(Utrecht, The Netherlands) invites applications for a tenure-track facult=
y=20
position in Environmental Sciences at the Assistant Professor level. We a=
re=20
searching for a highly motivated scholar in the fields of environmental=20=

sciences, sustainable development and global change who fits within our=20=

interdisciplinary research group.
The Assistant Professor will contribute to the development of the portfol=
io=20
of soil and water within the framework of sustainable management and=20
restoration of terrestrial ecosystems. It is our mission to understand=20=

interactions between global change and ecosystem processes, for=20
sustainability of ecosystem services to humans. Soil and hydrological=20
processes in terrestrial ecosystems depend on environmental conditions,=20=

biogeochemical and human interventions. The Assistant professor will=20
strengthen this research line by focusing on the interface between=20
environmental hydrology, soil science and sustainability.

Qualifications
We encourage applications from candidates
=95 with a PhD that that have a proven affinity with environmental resear=
ch=20
(eco-hydrology, hydrochemistry and soil science) and a combination=20
preferable of experimental and modelling work;

=95 who have experience with and interest in academic teaching;

=95 who have interest in and experience with multidisciplinary and=20
interdisciplinary research approaches;

=95 who have a strong record of international peer-reviewed publications;=


=95 who have successfully acquired and carried out externally funded=20
projects;

=95 who are well connected to relevant academic partners as well as to=20=

stakeholders in society;

=95 who have excellent communication skills and interpersonal relationshi=
ps.

The candidate is expected to develop an internationally renowned research=
=20
line. The candidate will teach in the newly developed BSc program Global=20=

Sustainability Science and the MSc programs Sustainable Development and=20=

Water Science & Management. All teaching will be in the English langu=
age.=20
In addition, successful candidates will be expected to supervise BSc and=20=

MSc projects, as well as to contribute to the acquisition and execution o=
f=20
externally funded projects. Coaching and supervising PhD students is also=
=20
one of your responsibilities. You will be stimulated and coached in=20
applying for a personal research grant. This position requires a PhD and=20=

preferably post-doc positions at the time of appointment.
