**Please also forward to final year undergraduates or masters students who are late in looking for a PhD**

There is a late opportunity for a PhD position in Air Quality and Climate Change, using a mixture of models and observations to develop an “Air Quality Service”.

We are interested in the conditions that exacerbate poor air quality, and then make an assessment of how those conditions might change over the coming decade(s). This could be climate change impacts on particular meteorological conditions, changes in ozone input from the stratosphere (due to ozone layer recovery and climate change), as well as emission changes. The results might go some way to suggesting pollution control measures that authorities might consider adopting.

The PhD will be in the Lancaster Environment Centre<http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/lec/>, Lancaster University, and will be co-supervised by the JBA Trust<http://www.jbatrust.org/> and JBA Consulting<http://www.jbaconsulting.com/>.

The project is part of the second wave of the EU-funded Centre for Global Eco-innovation<http://www.cgeinnovation.org/>, and will equip the successful candidate with the commercial experience for a career outside academia, as well as the research experience for a career inside academia.

All students are encouraged to apply. Home/EU students will have their fees covered, but tuition for international students without their own support would have to be confirmed. There is a generous stipend and funding for research support.

Application deadline: 19th September 2016 (hopefully to be put back, but please don’t plan on this!)

Provisional interview date: 22nd September 2016
