TEXAS, COLLEGE STATION. Texas A&M University. The Department of Geography invites applications for two (2) tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Physical Geography. Research specializations should complement existing departmental strengths in biogeography, climatology, and/or geomorphology. Combinations of research expertise among these specialties are encouraged as well as the integration with geospatial technologies. Essential characteristics include publications commensurate with experience; demonstrated capability to secure external funding; ability to contribute to GIS research and teaching; and the ability to strengthen the graduate program in Geography through course offerings and mentoring students. Candidates should have the potential for creating synergies with existing Department strengths, must have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment, and a have strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching.  These two positions are part of a group of tenure-track lines to be filled over the coming year, as we are also searching for three human geographers. 

 

The Department of Geography (http://geography.tamu.edu) has 15 faculty members with strengths in biogeography, climatology, geomorphology, human geography, human-environment relationships, and Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIST). We are based in the College of Geosciences (http://geosciences.tamu.edu) with the Departments of Atmospheric Sciences, Geology & Geophysics, and Oceanography, and play a major role in the Environmental Programs in Geosciences. The College of Geosciences also includes Sea Grant, the Geochemical and Environmental Research Group (GERG), and the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP). Texas A&M University, a land-, sea-, and space-grant university, is located in a metropolitan area with a dynamic and international community of 255,000 people.
