We are seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Earth System Sciences experienced
in the use of computer modelling, and are specifically looking for someone
who is equally adept at working within modern ecological and environmental
systems, as well as geological systems.

In addition to computer modelling, you will have a strong research and/or
teaching background in at least two the following areas: environmental
and/or climate modelling; development of innovative Earth systems models;
development and/or application of innovative climate-sensitive proxies;
environmental statistics; evolutionary biology; quantification of ecosystem
services and/or natural capital.

Your will use your technical expertise to help develop and enhance how we
teach environmental modelling that maximizes the potential offered by
online and distance learning. You will also be expected to secure external
research funding and contribute to future REF submissions aligned with
Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences. In REF2014, 77% of the School’s
research outputs were assessed as world-leading or internationally
excellent (4* or 3*) for overall quality and for impact.

You must be committed to the principles of equality and diversity in all
aspects of your teaching and research. Experience of online and/or distance
education would be desirable.

The University is proud to have gained an Athena SWAN Institutional Bronze
Award in April 2013, as well as holding an individual Silver and Bronze
