IIASA was established in 1972 as an independent international research 
organisation based in Austria. IIASA's interdisciplinary research 
focuses on finding solutions to the complex, interconnected global 
problems confronting humanity ranging from achieving global food 
security to transitioning to sustainable energy systems. The UK joined 
IIASA in June 2015

Research Council (ESRC), the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research 
Council (EPSRC), and NERC.

IIASA is offering the following Employment Opportunities:

*1) Science Communication Fellow*

IIASA is currently accepting applications for its summer 2017 Science 
Communication Fellowship. The fellowship begins on 24 May and ends on 31 
August. The fellowship covers the cost of travel to Vienna from the 
awardee’s home, and a modest stipend to offset living expenses during 
the period of the fellowship.

The Science Communication Fellow will gain experience in communicating 
complex systems science for a general audience, through a variety of 
platforms including blogs, website content, and articles for our 
magazine, Options. The science communication fellow will work as part of 
the IIASA Communications department, assisting with a variety of tasks 
including editorial work, website maintenance, media relations, event 
coverage, social media, and other communication activities.

*2) Head of Directorate Office/Science to Policy Coordinator*

To accommodate recent growth in the IIASA portfolio and to further 
enhance the Directorate Office consisting of five to seven scientific 
and administrative professionals, IIASA  are looking to recruit a Head 
of Directorate Office/Science to Policy Coordinator. The selected 
candidate will work under the direct supervision of and report to the 
Director General/Chief Executive Officer (DG/CEO), coordinating the 
daily tasks of the Directorate Office and working across IIASA programs 
and departments as well as scientific institutions and policy makers in 
IIASA member countries and international organizations.

A contract of three years will be offered to the successful candidate 
for this full-time position, beginning in 2017. The contract may be 
renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of review.
