We seek a Full or Associate Professor with demonstrated abilities and
accomplishments in water-related sciences, outreach and education to lead
the graduate education component of the University’s water research
initiative. The University of Nevada has a long tradition in both surface
and subsurface hydrology. We seek to maintain these strengths and grow into
emerging areas including conjunctive water use, climate change impacts on
all aspects of the hydrologic cycle, and the ecological attributes of
aquatic ecosystems.

The new GPHS Director will be responsible for administering the graduate
program including finances, staff, and students. This position will be
housed in one of several water-centric departments that best match the
candidate’s background and interests. These departments include, but are
not limited to, Biology, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Geography,
Geology, and Natural Resources and Environmental Science. We seek a
candidate with effective leadership skills, enthusiasm, and vision for
growing an internationally recognized, interdisciplinary water education
program. The GPHS Director is expected to maintain an active research
program, teach at a reduced load within their home department, and generate
extramural funding for graduate student training programs.
