Crop and Soil Sciences, NC State University, Raleigh, NC. Twelve month,
tenure track position with an appointment of 60% Research/40% Teaching.
Salary commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will organize
and conduct grant-funded basic and applied research on rhizosphere science,
root zone processes, and plant-soil interactions, in field, greenhouse, and
laboratory settings. We are specifically interested in candidates who focus
on the chemical interactions between plants and the soil system around
roots. Specific topics of interest may include modeling, metabolomics, and
stable isotope-based approaches to attack fundamental problems associated
with crop productivity, nutrient dynamics, environmental remediation,
abiotic stress, microbial ecology, and carbon storage in soils. The faculty
member will develop a new graduate level course on rhizosphere processes,

education/experience: Ph.D. in Soil Science, Crop Science, Biogeochemistry,
Horticulture, or a related field is required, with extensive training in
plant-soil interactions, and advanced biological and chemical techniques.
Specific expertise in root or whole plant systems is required, and training
in metabolomics and isotopic techniques as applied to root exudates is
desirable. The successful candidate is expected to: develop a productive
research program that is sustained by extramural grant funding and is
responsive to solving problems of state, national, or international
importance; publish scholarly work in internationally recognized
peer-reviewed journals; teach courses consistent with departmental needs;
