This is a permanent position in the Office of Ecosystems Protection and
Remediation – NEPA Compliance and Review Program.

This GS-0819/1301-13/13 (Engineer/Physical Scientist) position is open to
qualified individuals within Region 8.

*This influential position offers an opportunity to make a measurable
difference for the environment across Region 8. The NEPA program improves
protections in federal decision making on projects including: oil and gas,
water supply reservoirs, highways, recreation infrastructure and mining.  *

*The selected person will join a collaborative, high-energy team where they
will utilize and build their skills in leadership, negotiation, strategy
development, and communications.  The person selected will:*


   - *Review and evaluate environmental impact statements and environmental
   assessments prepared by other federal agencies under the National
   Environmental Policy* *Act (NEPA).*
   - *Coordinate and lead a team of regional air and water experts working
   on complex environmental issues during the NEPA process.*
   - *Analyze potential impacts to air, water and land resources and
   identify mitigation measures.*
   - *Prepare written comments and respond to inquiries from stakeholders
   regarding the interpretation of regulations and policies.*
   - *Brief senior management when issues arise, and elevate issues through
   management chain.*
