*Postdoctoral Research Associate Position: Quaternary Paleoceanography in
the Amundsen Sea*

*Durham University (Department of Geography)*

We seek to appoint a Post-doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) for a period
of two years on a project reconstructing the Quaternary paleoceanography of
the Amundsen Sea. The PDRA will generate records of ocean temperature
change over the last 25,000 years in the Amundsen Sea using organic
geochemistry analysis, and a focus on the TEX86 proxy. The post contributes
to a multi-disciplinary research project funded by the Natural Environment
Research Council (NERC), with partners at British Antarctic Survey and the
University of Bristol, which seeks to understand the links between ocean
temperature change and ice-sheet retreat in the Amundsen Sea sector of the
West Antarctic Ice Sheet. The PDRA will join the Ice Sheets and Sea Level
research group at Durham, and will have access to an extensive suite of
organic geochemistry facilities including GC, GCMS, GC-IRMS and LC-MS. The
post will start from 1st January 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter,
for 24 months.

Application closing date: 7th December 2015.
