Dear colleagues,

We are seeking to appoint a post-doctoral research assistant for a 2.5 year
NERC-funded project on the development of Bayesian methods for greenhouse
gas flux estimation using atmospheric observations. The successful
applicant will be based in the University of Bristol’s Atmospheric
Chemistry Research Group (ACRG) and work with staff from the School of
Mathematics (Dr. Jonty Rougier) and the UK Met Office (Dr. Alistair
Manning). The project will focus on the development of hierarchical
Bayesian statistics, Gaussian process emulation and Markov chain Monte
Carlo methods. You will work closely with experimental and theoretical
atmospheric scientists from the Advanced Global Atmospheric Gases
Experiment (AGAGE), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Global Monitoring Division (NOAA-GMD) and UK scientists involved in the
Global And Uk Greenhouse gas Emissions project (GAUGE) and the Deriving
Emissions related to Climate Change (DECC) network.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self motivated person who will work
closely with other ACRG team members. A background in physical science,
mathematics and/or computing is required. Experience in atmospheric science
is desirable, but not essential.
