The Colorado Conservation Exchange is a nascent watershed investment fund, which is an innovative tool to strongly accelerate investment in watershed health and wildfire risk reduction in Colorado and potentially across the American West. The Exchange builds on the success of both previous and ongoing watershed health efforts, but takes a more strategic, proactive and future-oriented approach. Our goal is to dramatically accelerate on-the-ground restoration, gain efficiencies by working across multiple watersheds, link across public and private lands, and expand the pool of investors by developing markets for ecosystem services like water quality, carbon, and wildlife habitat. We are at the end of our design phase and now propose to conduct a meaningful test of the Exchange, while also further developing its market infrastructure and the critical tools needed for full implementation.

The Colorado Conservation Exchange is currently hosted by the Center for Collaborative Conservation, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. The Exchange is led by a Working Group, which includes a diverse group of representatives from non-profits, government entities, private sector companies and a university.
CSU is an EO/EA/AA employer and conducts background checks on all final candidates.
