Apply to be a 2016 Mirzayan Fellow

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine are now accepting applications for the 2016 session of the Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program. This 12-week program (January 19 - April 9, 2016) is designed to engage early career individuals in the processes that inform U.S. science and technology policy. Fellows obtain essential skills and knowledge needed to work in science and technology policy at the federal, state, or local levels.

The Gulf Research Program will host a Christine Mirzayan fellow during the 2016 session. This fellow will join a cohort of about two dozen other fellows learning about the role of science in the federal government while working directly with Gulf Research Program staff and our Advisory Board.

We will be looking at candidates who are forward-thinking and cross-disciplinary. Graduate and professional school students and those who have completed graduate studies within the last five years may apply. We are particularly interested in candidates whose graduate work is relevant to the Gulf of Mexico and the mission and goals of the Gulf Research Program<http://www.nas.edu/gulf/about/index.html>.

The fellowship stipend is $8,500. More information about the Gulf Research Program's Mirzayan fellowship opportunity is available on our website<http://www.nas.edu/gulf/fellowships/index.html>. To access the online application, visit the Christine Mirzayan Fellowship website<http://sites.nationalacademies.org/PGA/policyfellows/index.htm>.

Please help us advertise this opportunity by forwarding this message. A flyer is available on our website<http://www.nas.edu/gulf/fellowships/index.html> that we welcome you to post or share.

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine are private, non-profit organizations that provide independent, expert advice to the nation. Over its 30-year duration, the Gulf Research Program will work to enhance oil system safety and the protection of human health and the environment in the Gulf of Mexico and other U.S. outer continental shelf areas by seeking to improve understanding of the region's interconnecting human, environmental, and energy systems and fostering application of these insights to benefit Gulf communities, ecosystems, and the Nation.
