Job Description

    The UCAR Visiting Scientist Programs (VSP) announces the 2015 call
    for applications for theNOAA Climate and Global Change Postdoctoral
    Fellowship Program <http://www.vsp.ucar.edu/cgc/>. Several
    postdoctoral fellows will be appointed.*The recruitment period ends
    January 9, 2015*.

    UCAR postdoctoral fellowship positions are for two years based on
    continued program funding. Successful applicants in this program
    work under the mentorship of host scientists in areas of mutual
    interest.

    Partial relocation costs paid per UCAR's relocation policy.

    If necessary, UCAR/NCAR will sponsor a work visa (e.g., H1B, etc.)
    to fill this position.

    *BASIC JOB FUNCTION*: To help create and train the next generation
    of leading researchers needed for climate studies (seeNOAA's Climate
    Program Office <http://cpo.noaa.gov/AboutCPO.aspx>). The program
    focuses on observing, understanding, modeling and predicting the
    climate variability and change on seasonal and longer time scales.
    This includes the documentation and analysis of past, current, or
    possible future climate variability and change and the study of the
    underlying physical, chemical, and biological processes. NOAA's
    Climate Program Office sponsors the program.

    *DUTIES INCLUDE*:

    Conducts independent or collaborative research under a proposed plan
    related to the goals of the program.

    Publishes and presents results of the research at seminars and
    conferences.

    Pursues outside activities that advance professional growth, which
    may include contributing to educational programs, serving on
    committees, and attending workshops.

    *REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE*:

    Education and Experience:

      * Ph.D. degree related to climate change research; with
      * Preference given to those who have held a Ph.D. for no more than
        three years.
      * Awardees must change institutions in the absence of compelling
        circumstances.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      * Ability to work independently and conduct research with minimal
        supervision.
      * Skill in oral and written communication.
