*PhD Graduate Research Assistantship in Marine Biology*

*Responsibilities*: This graduate research position is within a new project
on developing an Arctic Marine Biodiversity Observing Networks (AMBON). The
project is interdisciplinary in nature with research partners from multiple
institutions and agencies. The student is encouraged to develop a graduate
project that pertains to Arctic benthic communities and food web processes,
as well as their links to oceanographic conditions, pelagic system and/or
higher trophic levels.  In addition, the student will be deeply involved in
program management, including reporting, website development, field
planning, data management, outreach activities, etc. The project includes
three sea-going field seasons in the Chukchi Sea. As part of the PhD
degree, the student will complete course work in the marine science field
within the Graduate Program in Marine Science and Limnology at UAF. The
student is expected to reside in Fairbanks, Alaska for the duration of this
5-year project and graduate work.

*Qualifications*: An M.S. in Marine Biology or related science field and
excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Experiences
in science program management, GIS mapping, website design/maintenance, and
outreach activities are a benefit. Alaska Natives and individuals from
other underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.

until the position is filled, with an expected start date in January 2015,
or latest in May 2015.
