The Department of Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (www.whoi.edu/aope) invites exceptional candidates to apply for tenure-track and tenured scientific-staff positions to complement and expand existing programs in underwater robotics and computer vision, coastal & ocean fluid dynamics, and ocean acoustics and signal processing with core strengths in: nearshore, estuarine, and coastal fluid dynamics; sediment transport; bio-physical interactions; tracers and mixing; acoustical propagation and scattering; underwater signal processing and communication; vehicles; sensors; imaging; remote sensing; and polar studies.  Candidates are expected to develop independent, externally funded, and nationally and internationally recognized research programs.  Scientific staff members have the option of advising graduate students and teaching courses through the MIT/WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography and Oceanographic Engineering.  Opportunities for interdisciplinary research exist through collaboration with the other science departments (www.whoi.edu/main/departments-centers-labs) and the research institutes (www.whoi.edu/main/ocean-institutes) at WHOI.
 
Applicants should have a doctoral degree, postdoctoral experience, and a publication record.  Women and minority applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.
