Job Description 	Responsible for the management and oversight of science 
support provided at McMurdo Station including the Albert P. Crary 
Laboratory facility. Management of planning, scheduling and providing 
equipment and support services to all grantees and technical 
representatives using observatories, laboratories, or other field 
science facilities as assigned. Interface on a regular basis with NSF 
representatives, grantees, ASC functional areas, and other USAP support 
agencies. Deploys to McMurdo Station during the austral summer to 
supervise ASC science support personnel and oversee logistical 
coordination for deployed science projects. Ensures safety is the 
highest priority and responsible for maintaining a safe workplace.

Reviews grantee proposals, assesses support requirements, attends 
science planning meetings, plans and schedules resources to meet 
requirements, reviews Support Information Package, prepares Research 
Support Plans. Coordinates closely with the Science Planning Manager and 
Science Planners.

Develops budgets, staffing and implementation plans on an annual basis. 
Maintains the S&TPS budget for assigned WBSs within approved levels.

Evaluates, justifies, and monitors the procurement of science support 
instruments and equipment.

Ensures that S&TPS support meets contract obligations in a manner that 
meets or exceeds the customer's needs and expectations.

Ensures that S&TPS support activities are performed in accordance with 
all applicable laws, regulations, standards and codes imposed by the 
Antarctic Treaty and the U.S. Government.

Performs other duties as required

Position will operate out of both Denver ASC office and McMurdo Station, 
Antarctica on a seasonal basis. The standard work schedule for this 
position is 54 hours per week when deployed to McMurdo Station. (Monday 
through Saturday, 9 hours per day.)
Basic Qualifications 	Familiarity with laboratory and/or field science 
equipment, tools and procedures.
Detailed understanding of science operations.
Familiarity with the standard PC operating environment and operational 
knowledge of Windows and MS Office Products required.
Familiarity with project management tools and experience in project 
management desired.
Willingness to perform community support activities when on station 
including household chores, fire, and safety response actions. Previous 
experience working at field locations and laboratories in Antarctica is 
desired.

Four year college degree required. Bachelor's in a related field preferred.
Four years management and supervisory experience required.

Position will operate out of both Denver ASC office and McMurdo Station, 
Antarctica on a seasonal basis.

***Deployment to Antarctica is required for this position. The 
individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and 
dental examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. 
Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of 
employment offer or other employment action.***
Desired skills 	MS degree in science or ten years relevant career 
experience associated with support of field science is preferred.
Prior experience supporting a broad range of science disciplines preferred.
Experience mentoring and training technical personnel in laboratory and 
science operations preferred.
