Dear colleagues,

We are looking for an organic geochemist for a collaborative staff position
between UC Santa Cruz (UCSC Institute of Marine Sciences), and the adjacent
US Geological Survey, Pacific Coastal & Marine Science Center (also in
Santa Cruz).

We are searching for a Project Scientist (PhD level) position to support
increasing organic geochemistry collaborations, and the development of new
methods and projects between USGS and UCSC. This is a new position, but we
envision the candidate will divide their time between the McCarthy labs,
and also the shared light stable isotope facility at UCSC, and the
developing new lab facilities at the adjacent USGS center, working in
particular with Nancy Prouty and Kurt Buck. We currently have a hard money
funding commitment for an initial 2 years, but we hope that if successful,
this position would continue in the long term.

We are most interested in a candidate with background/ interests in
compound-specific organic stable isotope analyses, as well as basic organic
geochemical techniques (GC, HPLC etc). Please see the official job ad
(link provided below) for a more thorough description.

Would appreciate it if you could distribute this widely to colleagues, as
well as any recent students or postdocs who you feel might be good
candidates.

Cheers,

Matt McCarthy (mdmccar at ucsc.edu)
