I want to announce a post doc position investigating the intersection of urban-scale meteorology and atmospheric chemistry at Baylor University. The position is cross-listed in the Department of Environmental Science and the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM: BAYLOR UNIVERSITY

COMPUTATIONAL AND FIELD RESEARCH IN URBAN METEOROLOGY AND ATMOSPHERIC CHEMISTRY

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral fellowship position at Baylor University, commencing June 1, 2014. The project duration is initially for one year with potential for second year renewal, pending research productivity. The candidate will work primarily on computational studies of the impacts of urban meteorology on atmospheric particulate matter dynamics using the Weather Research and Forecasting Model and other in-house packages for building-scale flow simulations. The candidate will be co-advised by two faculty: one in the Environmental Sciences Department, Dr. Rebecca Sheesley (rebecca_sheesley at baylor.edu); the other in the Mechanical Engineering Department, Dr. William Anderson (w_anderson at baylor.edu). Candidates with backgrounds and interests in atmospheric modeling of boundary later meteorology and turbulent flows in complex environments are especially encouraged to apply. In addition to the computational research, candidates may have the opportunity to lead brief field campaigns measuring urban gradients of black carbon in Houston, TX. This work is motivated by interests to understand gradients in atmospheric particulate matter across urban environments from building- to city-scale.

The post-doctoral fellowship program is supported by the Office of the Vice-Provost for Research at Baylor University. For more information please contact Dr. Sheesley or Dr. Anderson,
