We will be hiring two marine geophysicists to be program directors at the National Science Foundation in the Marine Geology and Geophysics Program. These people will fund fundamental science of investigators in the US geophysics academic sector (seismology, paleomagnetic, tectonics, geodesy, etc.). The jobs are posted on the USAJOBS website and listed as "physical science administrators". We are looking for highly qualified geophysicists for these positions, with experience as a faculty member at a US academic institution being considered a plus.

Here is the link to the one for the permanent position https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/386691400 and here is the link to the one for the rotator position (i.e., someone who comes to NSF for up to 3 years to work as a program officer and then who returns to their home institution at the end of that period) https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/386690700. If you are willing to consider appointment for both positions, please apply to both advertisements. To do this you can submit the same application package to both.

For more information, please contact Barbara Ransom at NSF at 703-292-7792 (bransom at nsf.gov<mailto:bransom at nsf.gov>)

Please let any others that you feel may be qualified for these positions know about them. We are looking for a strong and robust pool of candidates from which to make our selection.

Sincerely, BARBARA RANSOM
