McCrone Associates, Inc., a Chicago-area analytical and research laboratory, seeks several  highly motivated and curious research scientists to solve materials and contamination problems using modern microscopy and microanalysis for our clients in a variety of industries.  These positions offer a significant amount of autonomy and require the skills to handle multiple projects at any given time.

We are looking for specialists in the following areas:

Mass Spectrometry
Expertise and experience primarily in Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry (TIMS) with emphasis in ion counting techniques at the ultra-trace level. Other desired areas of expertise are experience with large geometry, dynamic SIMS instruments, and experience with particle analysis using SIMS.

The ideal candidate will have a Masters or Doctorate degree in chemistry, physics, geology or materials science with five or more years of relevant, hands-on laboratory experience. Excellent oral and written communications skills are essential. Strong software skills with instrument operation and Microsoft Office applications are mandatory. This position does not involve management of personnel, however, strong teamwork and leadership skills are important. Experience working in cGMP and ISO 17025 regulated laboratories is desired.

Electron Microscopist
Expertise and experience primarily in scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EDS). The applicant must have experience actually operating SEM-EDS equipment for imaging, qualitative, and quantitative analysis. Knowledge of wavelength dispersive x-ray spectrometry (WDS), and other characterization techniques such as Raman, SIMS, XRD, or XPS, is a plus.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in chemistry, physics, geology, metallurgy, forensic science, or materials science with five years of relevant laboratory experience. Experience with word processing, spreadsheets and databases is mandatory. Experience working in cGMP and ISO 17025 regulated laboratories is desired.

Analytical Organic Chemist
In search of chemists with expertise and experience in light microscopy, FTIR, Raman, GC/MS, DART Accu-TOF, and HPLC.

The ideal candidate will have a Masters or Doctorate degree in chemistry, biochemistry or materials science with five or more years of relevant, hands-on laboratory experience in spectroscopy and chromatography for materials analysis and problem solving. Excellent oral and written communications skills are essential. Strong software skills with instrument operation and Microsoft Office applications are mandatory. This position does not involve management of personnel, however, strong teamwork and leadership skills are important. Experience working in cGMP and ISO 17025 regulated laboratories is desired.
