Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Scholar position in the ASU
Center for Meteorite Studies.

Anticipated start date: December 1, 2013.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in research in
isotope cosmochemistry and in the development of new analytical techniques
with multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Ongoing
research projects include the investigation of a variety of meteoritic
materials towards the development of fine-scale chronometers based on
short-lived radionuclides, as well as characterization of mass dependent
fractionation of the stable isotopes of a variety of elements (to constrain
nebular and asteroidal processing) and non-mass dependent isotopic
anomalies (to identify possible nucleosynthetic sources).

The Isotope Cosmochemistry and Geochronology Laboratory in the Center for
Meteorite Studies includes a ThermoNeptune MC-ICPMS (equipped with a Photon
Machines excimer laser ablation system) and an associated clean chemistry
laboratory for ultra low-blank sample preparation. Access to a wide variety
of analytical facilities (including a Cameca 6f ion microprobe, a Cameca
NanoSIMS 50L, a Thermo X-series quadrupole ICPMS, a new JEOL8530F electron
microprobe, and various other electron microbeam instruments) are also
available at Arizona State University. Additionally, the Center for
Meteorite Studies houses an extensive meteorite collection, with over 2000
distinct meteorites.
