The Department of Geography at Michigan State University invites
applications for a tenure system appointment at the rank of Assistant
Professor in the area of remote sensing and geographic information science.
We are a large, collegial department with a long research and teaching
tradition in RS/GIS and their application to social and environmental
problems. As a land grant institution, Michigan State University offers
tremendous opportunities for scientific collaboration with colleagues and
students on regional and global issues.

Outstanding candidates with a research focus in any area of applied remote
sensing and geographic information science will be considered. Successful
applicants will be expected to develop a strong externally funded research
program and all candidates must demonstrate a funding plan or related
strategy. The successful candidate will also exhibit excellence in
undergraduate and graduate teaching. Candidates will be expected to teach
high-quality courses across the remote sensing spectrum, and special
consideration will be given to those candidates who can also offer courses
in cartography/geovisualization. Please review our course catalog for
