Dear Colleague,

The Univ. of Wisconsin - Madison is seeking a new Director for the UW
Arboretum. This is a key leadership position for an institution that
is important not only to the university education and research communities
and citizens of Madison but also to the broad field of restoration ecology
who view the Arboretum as the birthplace of their field. The UW Arboretum
does have an unusual history (being founded by Aldo Leopold and others) and
a distinctive identity (being largely a collection of restored plant
communities rather than a set of ornamental plantings).

As you can see from job ad below, we want a visionary leader for the
Arboretum who can build on its many strengths and proud traditions to
ensure its continuing leadership in restoration ecology, conservation
biology, education, and outreach in the 21st century.

Since the original job ad and vacancy listing were posted, the Search and
Screen Committee has decided to extend the deadline and start dates in
order to widen our search. Our current deadline for applications is *Nov.
25, 2013 *(or until a suitable candidate is found) with an expected start
date in summer 2014 (June 15 or after).

Please consider applying for this position if you are interested or share
this announcement widely with those you feel would be interested and
well-qualified.

Thank you for your attention. and please contact me if you have any
questions.
