Job Opening

The Energy and Climate Team of the Economic Department of the German
Embassy in
Washington, D.C., is seeking an individual to fill the position of
Adviser
starting September 1, 2013. The contract is initially limited until August
31, 2014

Responsibilities:
• Support the Energy and Climate team of the Embassy in the analysis of
U.S. energy
policy and its impact on Germany and the EU
• Explanation of the German energy and climate policy to U.S. counterparts
(Administration, Congress, NGOs, Think Tanks and Business/Trade
Associations)
• “Transatlantic Climate Bridge”: Overall planning for the US and
organization of
Embassy projects

Qualifications:
• Excellent knowledge of English and German
• Masters Degree or higher (or German equivalent education)
• Relevant professional experience
• In-depth knowledge of Energy Policy
• Excellent knowledge of the U.S. government system
• Ability to present complex issues in a clear and convincing manner both
verbally and
in writing
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work within a team
• Willingness to travel
• Good knowledge of Internet applications and MS-Office, preferably also
OpenOffice
applications
Contract conditions and compensation are based on the standard employment
agreement
for non-diplomatic staff at the German foreign missions in the U.S
Applicants who are not U.S. citizens must have a valid green card.
