Courses are provided by the ASA to bring low-cost, local courses to
Chapters. The Traveling Course is intended as a service to Chapters, and
to assist them in providing workshops for members, and developing programs and
outreach. The courses are awarded according to geographical proximity to
help keep the travel cost low with special consideration given to smaller
Chapters and Chapters who have not had a course recently. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

members are invited each year to submit proposals for initiatives that support
the association's mission. In the past, ASA has funded initiatives with
wide-ranging emphases, from reaching out to the K-12 system to enhancing
technological access for chapters and sections to increasing
diversity in our profession. The 2009 ASA budget again includes funding to
support these Member Initiatives. ASA hopes you will consider
participating in this activity and will think of a project that has the
potential to contribute to the advancement of the association. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

student participation/membership in ASA/COWY for STAT majors in the CO/WY area
- I believe this could be possible since student membership is only $10 for ASA
